Cliamate Warming

It s cold today with the snow flitting and blowing off and on and I don't like it. Some people like freezing and winter weather vagaries; I don't. Even 'though I have been trying to be conservative using utilities I did turn on my little electric heater. I would rather be warm and poor. After surgery I left a lot of lights on because I was afraid I would need to get up in the night and trip or fall over something in the night as my balance isn't not as good as it was 3 months ago. However, I am progressing and this week I started conserving again, but I still don't like shivering. So I won't.

I have been reading Mayberry's blog "Keep It Simple" where the weather is comparatively warmer and Treesong's site where it has got to be colder than ****. I don't like it to hot or too cold. I wonder if there is a happy medium within the continental U. S. ...just wishing and wondering.

Our family lived in upstate NY at one time and the snow would drift over six foot high snow fences. We, as little kids, could tunnel under the deeper snow like little rabbits, but we froze outside and then inside when we went into the house. Survivalist can hype up living off the land and bugging out, but believe me, it wouldn't be any picnic in any kind of weather. Our family were pretty much survivalist, not by choice, but because of the economy.I wouldn't want to live like that again, however I have learned to like beans again after many years of shunning them as a food source.

So, I chose to be a little warmer and eat other foods the the bug out boys would probably gasp about. I chose to be comfortable for as long as possible in these times of failing government and economy...yes, I am slighly spoiled.

There is a reason...

There is a reason that most women don't want to get on board the Survival Train. It is work intensive, time consuming, hard work. There is a reason that electric appliances were invented and autos built America. Say what you will I would hate to lose what we have and become a third world county or even live a primitive live that so many seem to advocate. I could adjust to some of it, but prefer not to. I am older, have had some recent setbacks and live on S. S. that I paid into for forty years or more. Knowing that the government may send out IU's on "entitlementd" that they stole and I worked hard to pay into and that pensions may be in jeopardy, I do urge women to pay attention to at least study up and prepare the best way they can.

A problem: Most women born into the 60's and thereafter don't have a clue and couldn't survive very well for very long. As Mayberry says, "Wake up"!!

Most modern girls and boys get their bread from Bunny Bread or rolls from fast food joints They need to learn how to bake bread and be prepared to do so. I can bake bread from scratch, but can you? I, like everyone else prefer to get my bread at the bread store. I'd rather not have to bake in the summer time, but if the economy fishtails or goes belly up, I can and will even if it gets to 100 degrees in Ky. in the summer time. That being said, here is a suggestion for those that can't, never did, won't try or just don't know how and will not learn. Remember,"Bread is the staff of life."

Buy Jiffy Corn Bread Mix/ It is relatively cheep easy to store, comes pre-packaged and requires three ingredients. Milk, an egg and the mix and bakes fast. You can even bake in an old cast iron pan ofer an open fire. Read the directions and save at least one box for directions. Buy as many boxes as you can afford and store. You can even open the boxes and repack. Save any empty boxes for fire fodder.

I think of my older sister as a pretty good "can do" woman. But Oh! You poor, spoiled, younger generation!!

Eat well, sleep well, live well and prepare.

Woman vs. Survivalism

I don't know why there is a conception that Survivalist is romantic or the way to live if the economy were to get worse. Most woman would not do well, with perhaps a few exceptions, in a national collapse. Survival is not adventuresome or romantic. There are some that advocate a gen. disruption or society breakdown. Think twice and be careful what you wish for.

Men think they will be the modern Danial Boon, traipsing off into the hinterlands to fish, hunt and live of the land. Well, ol' Dan left his wife and large family more than once to survive on their own. He was the Legend frontier and hero of the wilderness and Alamo. Well, he did return long enough to make a few babies and was off again open up satisfy his wanderlust.

Women know that beinging a survivalist is not a glamorous lifestyle. It was work..work..work. It was chopping wood, emptying foul, stinky commodes(pots)or making trips to the out house in bitter, inclement weather, having and raising children and than watching
them as they often succumbed to disease or injuries. It was cooking in an open fireplace. It was having little food or no food or foods that were wormy or meat that was rank. But, they eat it anyway in order to stave off starvation until the crops came in or ol' Dan should show at the cabin door with a deer or whatever.

A huge workload fell upon the wife, mother or woman of the house and would again if the nation were to go into a society spiral. And we know it. And it would again. Try cooking on an old iron wood stove in the summer time. Try heating the house with an old iron stove. You won't like it. It isn't like camping out for a few days.

A big depression/collapse would expose you, your family, friends or/and relatives to disease, pestilence, injury and danger from bipedal, feral preditors (men of no compunction) that would come from nowhere. Be afraid. Be careful. Be wary. Pray that a meltdown never occurs.

Do be prepared to the best of your ability. Do read, practice and encourage others to do the same. Remember, we women can not be forced to think in survival mode," but we can be coerced..gently, of course. You can not ram survivalsm down our throats as some are intent on doing. Nope, we know whats in it for us. A type of slavery that women have not seen for a long time. I am a survivalist to a degree, but I don't want to use catalog magazines for toilet paper.

Men

Men, you gotta love 'em...or not.

There's a lot of men out there in bloggerland who measure their manhood in how many fire arms and thousands of rounds of ammo they can accumulate. They will spends big bucks for big guns, big knives and exspensive survivial gear. Do they need all that? Probably not. What you really need is food, shelter and clothing. Afer that you need self protection. A good hand, a .410. a .22 and a 12 guage shot gun sould be equivelent in most cases. If you live in the country, maybe you will need a 30 .30 or 306 for big game with an appropriate aqmmount of ammo for each fire arm. You decide how much you need. Afterall, you can only shoot one gun at a time. A big ol' automatic weapon? Maybe, depending on location and cercumstances.

Most women will prefer that the guys go to the Salvation Army or Goodwill Store and scroung up a good carbon steel butcher knife and "refurbish" it, if necessary. You know, makea new handle, sharpen the blade and make a sheath if you don't have one laying about somewhere. Why spend that hard earned cash if you can avoid it? Make do with what you can find, scroung up or alter to suit your purposes.

First and foremost, have food, water and shelter for yourself and family. If you are young and single, Grasshopper, spend your moolah any way you want.

Government gone wrong song

I enjoy Treesong's blog. She is a woman after my own heart, strong, resourceful, honest forthright and on S. S. as many of are. The problem with Treesong is you can't have thees qualities in todays society.

If you have fuel for reserve...tell no one. Someone will appropriate it.
If you have food stapes set aside...sure'nuff. the rats will come out of the woodwork and help you eat it.
If you have any weapons or ammunition..hide them well...tell no one.

The Gov. can come in any time and appropriate your food. They can take your weapons for self defense anytime. They know who you are and what you have though gun registration.

If you have fuel someone will get it, if not the government it will be relatives or thieves or maybe all three. And what they don't get foraging hoards of desperate people.

Silence is Golden. Loose Lips Sinks Ships. And all that stuff.

Treesong, Treesong
sing me a song
sing of love of
God and country
of a government
gone wrong.

Of freedoms eroded
pioneers gone
dollars deflated
a massive government
sold out for a song

Yes, Treeesong
sing a sad song
for patriots fading
missing or gone

Miricals

A note for Paul.
Yes, Paul, I do beive in miracles. If only one or one set of parents were to read my post and act upon it in some small way I would be well please and consider THAT a miracle.
What if ...doesn't mean you must abide be those precepts/ideas. I know that this is a selfish society, has a corrupt government, and the most expensive educational, but poorly rated school system in the world. It is just questions I tossed out there.

I attended the last one-room school in the State of New Jersey. We were the Fourth, fifth and sixth grade students on the River Road. Soon after we were in a "modern" 3 room school. It was a brand new brick structure situated in the middle of a large acreage of former farmland. I think those were the best of my school rear memories.

Previously we had lived in upstate N. Y. in the "snow belt." We walked to the 1 mile to the bus stop. If we missed the bus there we walked another mile to the "four corners" to catch the bus as it looped back to go to school. You wouldn't catch a kid doing anything near that cold or strenuous in these days.

Our days of luxury may be numbered and the easy life just memories of the past if the economy doesn't change and the government doesn't get honest. Not my past...but yours.

What if....

What if you and your children learned and memorized the Ten commandments?
What if you or your family memorized the Preamble to the
Constitution of the United States?
What if you actually revued the Constituonal Amendments?
What if you blocked or locked your TV down at 9 PM or after the news?
What if you had your meals together at lest 3 times a week?
What if you or your children didn't have every electronic toy or gizmo on the market?
What if every kid/teenager in the county didn't have to have a car to drive to school?
What if your kid/teenager had to walk to school in reasonable distance?
What if you or your family did some small community service or good deed once a week?

Would we look like Americans are supposed to look and act like? Might make a big difference.
