GOT A FEW GOOD ROCKS?

THE ALL-SEEING GOD

ALMIGHTY GOD: YOUR PIERCING EYE
STRIKES THROUGH THE DARK OF NIGHT
AND OUR MOST SECRET ACTIONS LIE
ALL OPEN TO YOUR SIGHT

THERE'S NOT A SIN THAT WE COMMIT
NOR WICKED  WORD WE SAY
BUT IN YOUR DREADFUL BOOK IT'S WRIT
AGAINST THE JUDGEMENT DAY

AND MUST THE SINS I HAVE DONE
BE READ AND PUBLISHED THERE?
BE ALL EXPOSED BEFORE THE SUN
WHILE MEN AND ANGELS HEAR?

LORD, AT YOUR FEET ASHAMED, I LIE
YOUR FACE, I DARE NOT LOOK
PARDON MY SINS BEFORE I DIE
AND BLOT THEM FROM THE BOOK

REMEMBER ALL THE DYING PAINS
THAT MY REDEEMER FELT
LET HIS BLOOD WASH OUT THE STAIN
AND ANSWER FOR MY GUILT

by Dr. Watts.

It seems hard for many to define sin these days or to acknowledgedge the presence of sin or the act of sin.  We live in a "modern" world where all behavior, good, bad or otherwise, is often considered the norm or acceptable unless it is a condition or action so abhorrent that even hard core miscreants take notice.  For instance, we are horrified when a parent or criminal kills a child, but in the next breath abortion is defended as a right or pro choice.  Where in any Bible does it say that...or anything remotely codone any kind of murder?  Remember this Commandment:

THOU SHALT NOT KILL

It has always been my contention that if a person is able and does follow The Ten Commandments, then that person is well on the road to salvation and sanctity.  Remember that a house built on sand will collapse.  Your personal house must have a solid  foundation and thus faith and the New Testament are your rock.  Got some hefty, well difined stones handy?  Is it hard to live and work in The Spirit of Christ in our "enlightened" society?  You bet it is and I am the first to admit that that I am far from perfect, but...I keep trying.  READ LUKE;  all of it if you can.

The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting much cooler, and it won't be long before it is time to set the clocks back.  The coming week is supposed to be nice, fall weather.  I did get my hair cut; all my silver locks  were on the floor to be swept up and forgotten...for now.

WALK IN FAITH

Psalm 106: 31-32

"Let them give thanks to the Lord
for His kindness and wondrous deeds
to the children of man.
Let them extol Him in the assembly
of the people
and praise Him in the council of elders."
*

WALK IN FAITH

I'll walk in faith with God today
not knowing what it brings
I'll take each each step that He directs
and trust Him in all things.

I'll not lose hope if I am led
in moments of despair
I'll lean on Him with all my might
and trust me to His care.

I'll not assume that I know best
if heartaches come my way,
Because He'll meet my every need
I'll walk in faith today.

I'll take my walk in faith with God
by every single minute,
And though my pathway be unknown
by faith, I'll walk in it.

He knows the road that I must take
He knows each rock and stone
In faith I'll walk with God today
I will not walk alone.

You don't hear a lot about "Saint James, the Lessor" even though he wrote the first Catholic  Epistle, was the first Bishop of Jerusalem, the "Pillar" of the church and a witness of the Resurrection of Christ.  He was martyred around the year 49 and was also known as "James the Just.  His epistle is not long, but edifying.  Please Read this epistle of the early church.

"What will it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith, but does not have works?  Can the faith save him?"   St. James, 2: 14.

Do you-we- have faith-and good works?  What is a "good work?  Should we advertise our "good works" or go about our good works in a humble manner?  Questions for the individual(s) to ponder.

This has been another lazy day.  The new CPAP machine and 02 concentrator seem to leave me tired and wanting to sleep more.  I think the old one was better for me even if it did make lots of weird noises.  Well, tomorrow I need to get busy and get myself in gear.  I have some appointments coming up on Mon. and Tuesday; I need to get my gray hair cut.  Cut out all the gray, that is.

WHERE DO WE GO

WHERE DO WE GO
WHEN WE GO TO A PLACE
THAT SIMPLY IS NO PLACE AT ALL?
WHEN WE STEP OUT OF TIME
TO BECOME NOTHING MORE
THAN A MEMORY FEW CAN RECALL?
*
HOW CAN WE BE WHEN WE NO LONGER ARE
OR, EARLIER,  NOT HAVE BEEN?
A BIT OF ETERNITY SITS IN OUR SOULS
THOUGH WE LIVE IN THE HOUSE OF WIND.
*
CONSCIOUSNESS COMES
LIKE A STRANGER TO CALL,
BOTH US AND SOMETHING MORE.
WHERE IT MAY COME FROM
 AND WHERE IT MAY GO
IS A WONDER BEHIND A LOCKED DOOR.

I went shopping this afternoon because I needed milk.  I also bought apples at $5.00 for two-3 pound bags.  Apples are good for my diet-lots of healthy fibre.

Ho-Hum

SHOW OF FAITH
*
Faith in God, must show itself
in deeds we do, each day
By acts of kindness, love and care,
That mark the Christian way;
It's not enough that we profess
To hold to Christian views.
We must show our faith
throughout each day,
in everything we do.
*
In search of goals and dreams of life,
We must peruse His wills
And be of service, unto Him.
Until our life is stilled.
For when He lifts our soul, to judge-
Above the realms of earth-
By deeds of faith, we leave behind,
He will decide their worth.
*

Yes, I just recently used this same poem, but I happen to like it.
REACH OUT
*
Reach out to the aged,
add light to the eyes
of the bent and the stricken
the sad, the unwise.
*
Whenever you can,
find something to share
with the homeless or lost ones
to show that your care.
*
For these children of God
are in need of a friend,
and the love that you give
is love without end.

*

I have spent most of my adult years working with the aged, in one capacity or another, and in various nursing homes and a couple of hospitals.  So, I am always surprised when I look into the mirror and wonder, where did all that silver hair come from?  I can see my self in some of the poetry that I post.  Age comes to us all; I hope your ready for it!  You just can't avoid it!

I picked off some green, sweet peppers this afternoon.  There are more coming on.  There are also some small, green tomatoes on the vines.  I will let them grow until frost.  Here, in the Ohio Valley, the average frost is around mid-October, so I may get a few green tomatoes.  This has been a ho-hum day, but that's not bad.  I enjoy ho-hums!

Amazing, Candles, too

ARE YOU LIKE THE MOTH...DRAWN TO THE FLAME?

A CANDLE WISH
*
MAKE YOUR LIFE LIKE A CANDLE,
AS BEAUTIFUL, PURE AND WHITE.
MAY IT BE A GUIDE TO OTHERS
AS THE CANDLE IS A LIGHT.
*
MAY YOUR HOPES BURN EVER BRIGHTLY,
AND YOUR FAITH BE MORE THAN DOUBT-
AS CANDLES ON THE ALTER STAND,
NE'ER FLICKERING OR GOING OUT.
*
SHOULD SOME SOME STRONG WIND
OF LIFE BLOW OUT-
ANY FLAME THAT SEEMS IN VAIN,
LOOK UP TO GOD AND HE WILL LIGHT
THE CANDLE IN YOUR HEART AGAIN.

I've been cleaning out the van.  It is AMAZING all the junk I have accumulated.  I found all my winter gloves that I looked all over for, last fall.  Now I can have warm hands when I go out in the coming season .  I carried in four canisters of propane for my gas grill.  Couldn't find those this past spring either, but since it was so hot out I didn't worry or look extra hard.  And money...or I should say change.  Who couldn't use a few extra pennies, nickles and dimes this year...I could!!  My initial inspiration was to lighten the load and get a little better gas mileage, but it is paying off in other ways.  The van isn't quite cleaned out, but I am sure it is a lot lighter.  As Obama says, "CHANGE YOU CAN COUNT ON!!"  lol!

*

We can easily manage our affairs.
if we only take each day
the burden appointed for it.
But the load will be too heavy
for us if we add to its weight
the burden of tomorrow
before we are called to bear it.

WRONG WAY, THAT AWAY

Last evening I sent my post off in the wrong direction and it was probably hard to find...if you actually were looking for it. LOL!  Anyway, I think I am in the right pew tonight!

The above poem is from a collection of Irish poems in honor of the Blessed Mother of Jesus.  I hope you like it.

It has been raining a lot today and will probably rain tomorrow.  I guess I will get wet.  I'll just call it Holy Water.

THE GIFTS
*
ITS TRUE
WE THINK ABOUT THE RAN
AS DISMAL, DARKENED DAYS
BUT LOOK UPON THE SUNSHINE
AS HAPPY, BRIGHTENED WAYS
*
YET IT REALLY IS THE RAIN
WHICH BRINGS US
ALL THE THINGS WE NEED
THE FRUIT, THE FOOD, AND ALL IT GROWS
AND THE LIVING SEED
*
SO WHEN YOUR DAYS SEEM DARKEST
AND YOU FEEL A VAGUE DESPAIR
RECOGNIZE YOUR RAINY BLESSINGS
AS A GIFT THAT MAKES LIFE FAIR.

I think my digital scales are off.  The readout says I lost more weight than I expected.  It must need a new battery.  I think I need a new battery too, or at least a re-charge.

Entrust your works to the Lord
and your plans will secede.

RIVERS TO CROSS

THE PURPOSE FOR TRIALS
*
FROM MORNING UNTIL NIGHT
AND TOO, PAST THE LIGHT
THERE ARE RIVERS
THAT WE MUST CROSS
RIVERS OF FEARS...
AND RIVERS OF TEARS
AND RIVERS OF GREATEST LOSS

BUT WHATEVER IT MAY BE
THAT PLAGUES YOU AND ME
WHAT RIVERS WE MUST FORD
THEY ALL WORK FOR GOOD
AS HE SAID THEY WOULD...
TO STRENGTHEN OUR
FAITH IN THE LORD

11 Corinthians 1: 8-9
*
"For we would not, Brethren, have you ignorant
of the affliction which came about
upon us in Asia,
We were crushed beyond measure--
beyond our strength, so that we were weary
even of life.
Yes, we have been carrying,
within our selves, our death sentence,
in order that we may not trust in ourselves;
but in God, who raised the dead."

Paul was an unhappy fellow when he wrote some of the Epistle of the 11 Corinthians.  It  would seem that in as in all institutions, God inspired foundations or otherwise, things can go wrong and become something of a moral or ethical thorn in the growth-side of the early church...Read the epistles for a better understanding of the early church.

This day has been a little rainy of and on for most of the day.  I went to the grocery store and bought 10 cans of soup to aid my diet.  Most cans of soup have about 70 to 90 calories per serving.  I seem to have stalled out on my weight loss.  At least I am not gaining it back.  I guess I need to fine tune my fat attack.

MARY, MEEK AND HUMBLE OF HEART

I have a special place in my heart for Mary, the mother of Jesus...aka...God...the Holy Spirit...or the Trinity.  The trinity is the acknowledgement of the Three in One. I offer this small poem in honor of the Blessed Mother of Christ.

*
ONCE IN ROYAL DAVID'S CITY
STOOD A LOWLY CATTLE SHED
WHERE A MOTHER LAID HER BABY
IN A MANGER FOR HIS BED
MARY WAS THAT MOTHER MILD
JESUS WAS HER LITTLE CHILD
*
HE CAME DOWN TO EARTH FROM HEAVEN
WHO IS GOD AND LORD OF ALL
AND HIS SHELTER WAS A STABLE
AND HIS STABLE WAS A STALL
WITH THE POOR, THE MEAN AND LOWLY
LIVED ON EARTH, OUR SAVIOR HOLY
*
 ALL THROUGH HIS WONDROUS CHILDHOOD
HE WOULD HONOR AND OBEY
LOVE AND WATCH THE LOWLY MAIDEN
IN WHOSE GENTLE ARMS HE LAY
CHRISTIAN CHILDREN ALL SHOULD BE
MILD, OBEDIENT, AS GOOD AS HE.

UNEVENTFUL DAY

O LORD, YOU KNOW WELL,
 HOW DARK THE WAY;
GUIDE MY FOOTSTEPS,
LEST THEY STRAY.
GIVE ME FRESH FAITH
FOR EVERY HOUR,
LEST I SHOULD DOUBT
YOUR HOLY POWER.
*
GIVE ME HEART, O LORD,
STRONG TO ENDURE
HELP ME TO KEEP IT
SIMPLE AND PURE.
MAKE ME UNSELFISH
HELPFUL AND TRUE,
IN EVERY ACT-
WHATEVER I DO.
*
HELP ME TO DO
MY EARTHLY SHARE.
MAKE ME COURAGEOUS,
STRONG TO BEAR,
THE SUNSHINE OR SHADOW
IN MY LIFE,
SUSTAIN ME, LORD
IN DAILY STRIFE.
*
unknown

This has been an uneventful day unless you count going to the dentist and having my teeth cleaned as exciting.  At least I don't have any dental work that needs to be done this time, and I don't have to go back until March.

I finally had my TV taken from summer "pause" and can now watch the weather.  The problem of not having TV for six months is that I now find TV...BORING!  I had it put into hibernation in early April and now find that I didn't miss much at all, and there is a whole 'nother world out there.  Even into adulthood and aging, TV is our "sitter" and noisy companion.  I find that I really enjoyed the silence.

THE WISDOM BOOKS

Happy the man who finds wisdom,
the man who finds understanding;
For her profit is worth more than profit in silver,
 and better than gold is her revenue;
She is more precious than corals
and none of your choice possessions
can compare with her.
*
Pv. 3, 13-15
*
The books of Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Sirach, and Wisdom contain the Sapiential literature of the Old Testament.  If you have read any of these books, than you know that they contain a good life map for leading a sound, spiritual life, to be found there, within the Wisdom books.  We all need wisdom; all we can get, for the road of life is full of pot holes,  misleading stops and turns as we travel along.  Don't underestimate the Books of Wisdom or the Proverbs.  Also, a caution...do not think that these books, as inspirational as they are, can substitute for THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.

The Wisdom literature's of the Bible were compiled by the sages who recorded the best compositions of their neighbors and of their own personal observations and experiences.
There are other books that are included in the books  of Wisdom, .  I have not listed all of them.  If you can, read Proverbs and the Wisdom books of the Old Testament.  They are timeless.

What I write here is simple and basic, without a lot of references or quotations, biblical or otherwise.  It is up to you to find and follow your path and know from whence you came and where  or whom you wish to follow.  I hope it will be the true Christ, The King of Kings.

What I have found as I get older, is that wisdom does come with aging and is also dependent on how open and receptive you are.  It doesn't always come easy; nothing of great value seldom comes cheaply.  Do I miss my cues and show a lack of wisdom and discernment at times?  Sure I do.  Life is all about progressing and a learning experience.  Think of it as the REAL COLLEAGUE OF LIFE EXPERIENCES  from the University of Wisdom.  Hopefully, we will all get a PHD in spirituality.

SIMPLE FAITH AND SIMPLE LOVE

*

WE HAVE  LOVING SHEPHERD;
SO GREAT HIS LOVE HAS BEEN,
HE COMES FROM HEAVEN TO SAVE US
POOR CHILDREN LOST IN SIN.
*
OH, FAITHFULLY HE KEEPS US--
THE CHILDREN'S BLESSED FRIEND;
AND HE WILL KEEP AND LOVE US,
STILL FAITHFUL TO THE END.
*
OH, TEACH US LORD TO THANK YOU,
TO TRUST YOU AND TO LOVE;
AND BEAR US IN YOUR SACRED HEART,
TO HEAVEN, OUR HOME ABOVE.
*

Wouldn't it be great if our faith could be that simple as in a child's poem as written above?  It isn't, though, is it?  As we get older, our vision and horizons expand, becoming more complicated and frequently confused.  We try to keep up with the spinning world, pushing and shoving, competing and often being violent toward our fellow travelers and all the while the world of man is passing us by.  It was for nothing that we bore ill will or malice for our neighbors, families and acquaintances or ran after fame and fortune.  We will certainly get our "just rewards" or punishments for the good or evil we do in "our time."  Our time is fleeting, gone in a blink and can not be recovered or have a "do over."  Keep in mind the Second Commandment  as CHRIST himself summed it up so simply for his disciples:

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF
*

Got Love?
*
I didn't get much done today 'though my intentions were great.  Instead I slept late; I was tired.  Later, I went back to bed for a nap.  It is something that goes along with sleep apnea.  In the past, before the CPAP and O2 Concentrator, I was known to sleep 36 hours straight and still be exhausted.  It once took me three days to make an eight hour trip because I had to frequently stop and sleep.  Boy, am I glad those days are over!!  But...I still get pretty sleepy at times and then get nothing done.  O, Lazy Me!

Christ, light of the world

WORLD OF LIGHT

THERE IS A GLORIOUS WORLD OF LIGHT
ABOVE THE STARRY SKY,
WHERE THE SAINTS DEPARTED,
CLOTHED IN WHITE,
ADORE THE LORD MOST HIGH.
WE'RE MARCHING THROUGH
 EMMANUEL'S GROUND,
AND SOON WILL HEAR
THE TRUMPET SOUND;
WE HOPE TO MEET
AT JESU'S FEET,
AND NEVER PART AGAIN
WE HOPE TO MEET
AT JESU'S FEET
AND NEVER PART AGAIN.
*

We know of course, that Christ doesn't really "live in the sky" as alliterated in the poem, but is everywhere in the hearts of His people, all people, at all times, and is especially present in the spirit of His faithful and Saints.  Christ ascended into heaven, not into the sky, but sky is the easiest term to understand and write of, in the Gospels, and even for us in our modern world...for who has seen heaven other than a rare few and were able to return and speak of heaven to our limited capacity of knowing.

I took a couple "days off" due to computer problems.  It was good to have some reflective time and not worry about this computer, although I was spitting nickles over what happened and how it happened.  I wasn't thrilled about having to call a computer tech. to get me up and going again.  However, ups and downs are part of life and accept it, we must...but I can still spit a few nickles, can't I?!!  Not profanity, just a few nickles!!

THE TEMPEST

A LITTLE SHIP
WAS ON THE SEA-
IT WAS A PRETTY SIGHT;
IT SAILED ALONG SO PLEASANTLY
AND ALL WAS CALM AND BRIGHT
*
WHEN, THEN--A STORM BEGAN TO RISE,
THE WIND GREW LOAD AND STRONG;
IT BLEW THE CLOUDS ACROSS THE SKIES
IT BLEW THE WAVES ALONG.
*
AND ALL BUT ONE WERE SO AFRAID
OF SINKING IN THE DEEP;
HIS HEAD WAS ON A PILLOW LAID
AND HE WAS FAST ASLEEP
*
MASTER, WE PARISH!  MASTER, SAVE!
THEY CRIED--AND THEIR MASTER HEARD:
He ROSE--REBUKED THE WIND AND WAVE,
AND STILLED THEM WITH A WORD.
*
HE..TO THE STORM DOES SAYS
"PEACE; BE STILL!"
 THE RAGING BILLOWS CEASE;
THE WIND OBEYS HIS WILL
AND ALL ARE HUSHED  IN PEACE.
*
WELL WE KNOW,  IT WAS THE LORD
OUR SAVIOR AND OUR FRIEND,
WHOSE CARE OF THOSE
WHO TRUST HIS WORD
WILL NEVER--NEVER END.

Poems, Parables and Sheep

LITTLE ONES
*
FROM THE GLORIOUS HEAVENS
WHERE THE ANGELS ARE,
GOD LOOKS DOWN ON CHILDREN,
AND SEES THEM FROM AFAR;
HE HEARS ALL THEY ASK FOR,
ALL THE NIGHT AND DAY;
AND WATCHES LIKE A FATHER,
ALL THEIR WORK AND PLAY.
*
AND AS A FATHER GIVES,
SO HE GIVES THEM BREAD;
AND KEEPS THEM OUT OF DANGER,
AND WATCHES BY THEIR BEDS.
TELL ALL THE LITTLE CHILDREN,
OF THEIR FATHER'S CARE,
HOW HE LOVES AND WATCHES
OVER CHILDREN EVERY WHERE.
*
This is for Eeeeek!

Also  it is slightly adapted from a song of the 1860's
by Mrs Bivens.

Today I have been reading about the Lost Sheep.  It is a parable; a story to illustrate a point or a concept.  It is often taken quite literally and sometimes used as an excuse to act in certain ways.."It says so in the Bible."  How many shepherds would "throw" their flocks to the wolves in order to save one?(see Matt. 18: 12-14)  Old Ben Franklin said it best; "For want of a nail the shoe was lost, for want of a shoe the horse was lost." The parable of the Lost Sheep is not referring to real sheep or flocks, but of disbelievers or those that have gone astray.

I am not arguing with the Bible as it is sacred scripture.  I am just illustrating the frequent misuses of the parables and Gospels.  Would you save just one of your own and lose the rest of your loved one...if a possible choice were available?

In contrast to the parables, the disciples went out on a "dark and stormy night" and ran afoul with the weather man.  A bad storm came rolling in and the disciples were really, really afraid.  Jesus came walking across the waters...calmed the sea with a word...and saved All of them.(see Luke 8:22-25)  By the way, there are a couple of versions of this; one is that Jesus was sleeping in the boat, but both mean the same.

Whenever or wherever you think I have made a mistake or misread a Bible passage or made a poor analyis, please let me know.  My brain is pea-sized, you know.

I am not always right in my analysis, but I generally try to write in a simple form so that the page can be understood by all.

On my way home from E-Town yesterday I stopped and got 4(four) Tacos because it was getting late and I had not eaten much during the day.  I love Tacos and I ate all of them.  Around midnight my tummy told me how silly I was to eat 4 Tacos,  Next time I will only eat...3!...LOL's!!

Latin

I am sleepy.  Maybe because it has been a dull, gray day.  I have not accomplished a thing unless yo count washing the dishes.  I did get the last of the shrimp out of the freezer and cooked it for lunch.  One big soup bowl full of shrimp.  How many calories in a bowl of shrimp if you don't eat anything else? I have enough left to make a pretty good shrimp salad.

I have been on line trying to find the location of a fairly local church that has the traditional Latin Mass in the afternoon.  I have a general idea of where it is, but I hate to get lost only 12 miles from home.  Which is funny because I can drive from here to NY without a map, but I can't find my way around a local city.  My inner compass does not work in large urban areas.

If you have never been to a Latin Mass and you can, you should try to go.  It is a deep, spiritual liturgy; mysterious and profound.  I think the Church lost something very sacred when it introduced the Mass in the vernacular, the language of the people of any giving country.  The Mass in English is quite acceptable, but it is about to change again.  Ask your parents or Grandparents if they remember.

I had to delete a prayer in Latin here because the google spellchecker just couldn't decipher it.  Never trust a spellchecker completely.  They are not always perfect.
With that messed up, I am going to bed.

Taste and see...

I've been busy today doing a lot of little things.  I finally picked up my medicine and then went out to K-Mart.  I haven't been to k-Mart in a while, but I needed some caulking for my shelves.  I figured it was closer and probably about the same price as Lowe's.  While I was there I bought a new blouse and a pair of slacks that were marked down.  I need some new blouses.  I should get a couple more, but not today.

I came home and did some more cleaning-vacuuming.  I took the vacuum apart and washed out the dirt cup, the hepa filter and the foam filter.  I am glad that I have the kind of cleaner that can be...cleaned.  It will take a couple days for the hepa filter to dry out, but I can wait.  The house is full of very fine dust from all the repair work.  Workers are supposed to clean when they finish...they may take away the big stuff, but generally the leave the real work for us women.  Men are messy boys.

I think I am down another two pounds, but will wait to make sure.  Sometimes my weight will fluctuate a pound or two.  If I am down the two pounds, that will be 12 pounds of fat gone..I hope.  I have been staying on a high protein diet and sticking to it.  I do eat a little starch now and then because you do need some starches and fats during the day for proper chemical balance.  My goal is to lose another 8 to 10 pounds this month which would be about two pounds per week.  Do you think I can?  Just think, we are probably the only country in the world
that needs to give up food to stay healthy.

The devil,you say...

If "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" then I am in big trouble and the devil is on his way to my messy abode.  It seems as if I have been cleaning all day(I have)and that spider webs and dust bunnies have taken over. I started out by cleaning some of the mess left over from yesterdays project including the front entry, the living room, part of the middle room and as much or the bedroom as I could get.  I can't get down and vac. under the bed, but reached in under as far as the vacuum head and hose would go.  So..I have given it a good try, anyway.

I have a can of Walnut Stain and a can of Oak Stain for the book shelves.  I can't decide which I like the best.  I have a few days to think about it and make up my mind before I get time to do the job.

The "boss" of Matt said,  "Do have have change for $100.00?"  I didn't, but I knew what he was going to do: He was going to pay Matt a little under the table and keep the rest for himself.  Well, I don't keep much cash around so that took care of that little episode and he had to take a check.  He has several guys working like that and they will take what work they can find due to the economy.  However, the "boss" isn't paying taxes on cash payments or into their S.S.  Not only is he cheating the government, but he is cheating the workers, too.  We(I) don't operate that way knowingly so he won't be back.

There isn't a lot going on other than there will be a Blessing Day in the park which all denominations take part.  This will be on Sunday...9/11.  They say that it is just a coincidence that 9/11 fall on this Sunday as they have it every year.  I might go to that, but have not made up my mind if I want to fight the crowd.

I think I have mentioned before that anyone can give a blessing. It is a prayer of wishing one well, a thankful prayer, or a prayer of approval or benevolence.  So..I wish all readers well and may they be blessed...whether they like or not.  May the Good Lord bless and keep you and let perpetual light shine upon you.

SNIT~FIT`SPIT

I won't write much tonight.  I'm a little bit tired.  This "hurry up and wait" bit can make you sleepy.

Finally the "worker" showed up at about 1 P.M. this afternoon.  I will say this for him, once he got started he did a good job.  There is a little left to be done yet, such as caulking the small seams and painting, but that will have to wait.  I may do it myself when I have time.  It isn't that hard, even with with one good arm and one that wants to be.

I have a lot of things to do in the next few days which is why the finishing touches will have to wait.  Corner Health Care will come and change out my O2 concentrator as it is getting old and making funny noises...as do I, esp. when I eat beans.  LOL!  I need to go to the Drug store as I ran out of med. two days ago, and I need to go to the library.  I need..I need to do this or that, and a short trip to the grocery store wouldn' hurt.

I have been taking a few pictures of the shelves, before and after kind of shots.  I won't post the until them until whole deed is done and looking good.

"Patience is a virtue" and I was short on that today.  Maybe I will now recover from my little spit~snit in short order, but I really wanted the work done today and finished.

"LOVE MAKES THE WORLD GO 'ROUND"

MY LOVE FOR GOD
*
If I could paint the beauty
That God, I see in you,
My work would be a masterpiece
No artist could undo
No canvas ever could portray
The love within my heart
For it is far too deep and great
For words to e'er impart
Its magnitude goes far beyond
All else I ever knew
There is not measurement of the love
I have, dear God, for you.

"As the Father has loved Me, I also have loved you.  Abide in My love." John 15: 9
Theses are really good verses to read in their fullness as there is more about Love in John 15.  The late John Paul said that you must receive Love as well as give Love.

I went back to Lowe's today and bought six 1x8's, 8 foot long boards, and a few brackets to hold the shelves up with.  The brackets are really not the ones that I wanted; I went with the cheap ones.  They are not very pretty, but they will do.  So far I have spent about $60.00 dollars and that doesn't include the labor.  I hope the "laborers" show up tomorrow morning.

I am stopping right here as I need to take down blinds and move some things around.

WORK TO BE DONE

I went to Lowe's to get a piece of matching paneling for the the blocking in of a no-functional window that will soon become shelves for collectibles and stuff.  The work should start on Wed.  I will need to go back to the store to get some 1x6's for the shelves and some brackets to hold the shelves up.

To have paneling delivered would cost $59.00 which I think is a rip off as  don't live that far from Lowe's.  The panel won't fit in the van because I have all that "stocking up" canned goods and water in the van.  I guess I would get better mileage if I brought it all in.

We had rain yesterday; a heavy downpour for a short time, and it ponded in the front yard.  Next the leaves will come down in tuns and bunches.

I am a little sleepy tonight even though I slept fairly well last night.  I fell asleep in my chair. I went in to take a nap...and then I COULD NOT fall asleep.

Say some prayers for Beverly who has some -
OUCHIES!  I hate that Beverly has ouchies.

FAITH IN GOD
*
Faith in God must show itself
In deeds we do each day-
by acts of kindness, love and care,
That mark the Christian way;
It's not enough that we profess
To hold the Cristian views,
We must show faith,
throughout the day,
in everything we do.
*
In search of goals and dreams of life,
we must pursue His wills
And be a service, unto Him,
Until our life is stilled
For, when he lifts our soul to judge-
Above the realms of earth-
By deeds of faith, we leave behind,
He will decide their worth.

In doing good let us not fail;
for in due time we shall reap,
not failing.  Gal.V1: 8-9
*
I cooked a couple of steaks, onions, and carrots in my pressure cooker.  I ate one steak and have a large one for a couple of meals tomorrow.  And I cleaned up my mess.

X

Folks go to church on Sunday
and think they have it made
But there are six more days in which
to practice what we have prayed
You can't just read the Scriptures
You have to live them, too
And in your soul you must believe
God knows what's best for you
Life takes a lot more giving
Than most of us condone
But everything belongs to God
...And nothing is our own.

Come to me all ye that labor and are burdened
and I will will refresh you.
Matt. X1:28

OK, so it's Labor Day week-end.  It is supposed to a be time of rest and relaxing, that last, long holiday until  Thanksgiving.  and it is also a Sunday, right smack dab in the middle of it.  I wonder how many will make it to church or Sunday Services.
I am gonna bet that a lot of people will be nursing some bad
headaches or sick stomachs in the morning.  LOL'!  And a number of my relatives can be counted on to be basket cases in the A.M. as well!  I will not say I come from a family of angles, nope, not me, but I will say be careful and don't overdo it;  "All things in moderation."

The first Labor Day was celebrated on Sept. 5 1882 and again in 1883.  Around 1887-1888 it became a state holiday in recognition of the laborers that built the social and economic-prosperity of this country.  The movement to honor the
American worker grew and spread from state until it was signed into law as a national holiday.  Someone was looking out for the
little guy, who by the sweat of his brow and tears of his sacrifices, gave us the inheritance of Labor Day.  Since I am not sure of the exact sequence of years and passages of the legislatures, you might want to look it up and read about it.

"Man is born to labor and the bird to fly." Job V:7
"In the sweat of thy face  thou shalt eat thy bread."  Gen. 111:19.

Two big ol' monster men from the Salvation Army came and took apart the computer hutch/desk and now it is gone.  Those guys were really sweating bullets in this heat.  Now, they have to take it to the S. A. store and put it back together.  I'll bet they won't like that!!

THORNS AND ROSES

THE PATH OF LIFE
**
When walking down the path of life,
remember what  I say,
that every man must feel the thorns
that grow along the way.
**
And every soul will stumble
for every man is weak,
the road of life uncertain,
its prospects often bleak,
But always give a helping hand,
a word of love, a smile,
to help the soul beside you walk
across each weary mile.
**
For love will cause the sun to shine,
and everywhere you go,
the painful thorns less noticed,
as the roses bloom and grow.

I slept very well last night, from about 10 P. M. until 7 A.M. when my clock went off and woke me up.  Even then I snoozed until 8:15.

I have been working on getting that big computer hutch ready to go off and on today.   I have it mostly emptied out.  I just need to unplug my big computer and stuff and figure where to put it.  I want to set it up again on a smaller table or desk as it is my "backup."

Also, I have been washing cloths, and doing reg. minor chores, so I have been semi-busy.  And that was the way the day went.

As you can see I hit the wrong icon, but I will let it stand.  LOL!

COFFEE DONE ME IN

It was that second cup of coffee that done me wrong.  Normally I only drink one cup of coffee per day, but yesterday I was out.  We went to the Chinese Restaurant and I had iced tea there, then went back to Debbie's house and played Scrabble.  That where I had the second cup of coffee.  And of course, when I got home later I had a nice cup of hot tea.  The results?  I couldn't sleep.  Too much caffeine.  I never slept until after five A. M.  The clock woke me up at seven.  So the combination of coffee, tea, and the change of the moon phase, done me a wrong song, kind of melody.

Now I am tired.  I'll sleep tonight.  I might turn off the clock radio, too.  And snooze.  I know better than to consume all that caffeine, but did it anyway...bad me.

I didn't get much done this day, either.  I need to get things done tomorrow because the Salvation Army is coming on Saturday.  They will take apart the big computer desk/hutch and haul it to the store to sell.  I will be glad to see it gone as it is way to big for the space it is in.  Then maybe I can get some good cleaning done.  Right now I just shut my eyes(not really)and walk around it.  Goodbye big hutch...may it find a happy space...I mean place.

The house smells like onions.  I love onions, esp. with a hamburger.  After eating out yesterday I need to get back on
the diet horse and kick it on down the trail.  I hope to lose another ten pounds by Christmas, but I am not being overly expectant in doing so, but it is a goal.  Well, I will keep at it.  Every pound off is worth the effort.  Just think...when I was in my early 20's I weighed less than 100 pounds.  I'll never see that again!

It is very hot and humid for September.  I know that soon it will be a bit cooler.  I can dress for cold weather, but what can I do for the hot weather?  Oh, I know, but I don't look good in my birthday suit.

I am going to bed very soon.  No coffee or tea for me, please.

Do you wonder how I can blog so serioulsy one day and be silly the next?
It runs in my family...LOL!
