BY WATTS

I found this in a book that I have that was printed in1862, which makes it over 148 years old. It was probably written to teach young people. There are several inscriptions in the front of the book; it was given as a Christmas gift from an aunt in the same year. Some of the words are archaic, but the meaning is clear other than the word "mean," which indicates an impoverished spirit or a person of little value.

I took some books over to the nursing home for one of the residents who loves to read. I hope she enjoys them.

I made the liver patae' which turned out pretty good. I added some relish to the mayonnaise for a little extra zing. It made a good sandwich spread and there is some left over for tomorrow.
