Not a drop to drink

The above picture is from the 1937 flood that killed more than 5.000 people up and down the Ohio Valley.  After that The levies were built.  You can look it up Online.
Usually this is open farm land.  You can see the highway in the distance.   There is a farm  and farm house just about midway.  When the water gets high they get to the farm by row boat that they tie up in the trees.  The water is high, but it has been higher with water lapping at the edges of the highway you see in the picture.  Midway you can see more farm buildings and granaries.
There is a "shortcut" into Evansville, but in spite of the high water signs people always push their luck.

Greetings Mabel!

I sure hope you are high and dry and not near any of that flood water. Not sure I would want to own a farm where it often floods.

We are still raining here very lightly. Our grounds are saturated and squish under your feet when you walk on it, LOL.

We are not near any sort of flood stage at this point and where my house is it will be fine. But folks by the creeks are starting to keep an eye on things.

Stay warm and dry!
Love, Alice
